Chinah Helmandollar, daughter of former Ms. Wheelchair Virginia Board member, won Miss Smith Mountain Lake 2008-2009 and will
compete for Miss Virginia this summer. Chinah will be a Ms. Wheelchair Virginia AmeriCorps member, serving Pam Cobler, MWVA
Executive Director as a companion and assistant at woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. Chinah's platform is "Helping Virginians with

Roanoke, VA – February 2, 2010 – The Miss Virginia Organization is proud to announce that Miss Virginia, Caressa Cameron, from
Fredericksburg was crowned Miss America 2010 in Las Vegas. The final night of the Miss America Pageant was broadcast live on TLC and
hosted by Mario Lopez and TLC’s Clinton Kelly. She will travel approximately 20,000 miles each month speaking to audiences about her
personal platform of Real Talk: AIDS in America, and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network, the
national platform partner of the Miss America Organization.



Chinah Helmandollar of Smith Mountain Lake will assume the title of Miss Virginia 2009 immediately. She competed in the 2009 pageant as
Miss Smith Mountain Lake and was named a finalist in the competition. Chinah’s personal platform is Serving Virginians with Disabilities. An
aspiring actress, Chinah is a graduate of James Madison University with a degree in Theatre where she was a member of the National Society
of Collegiate Scholars. As Miss Virginia, she will travel 20,000 miles across Virginia sharing her message and entertaining. She will visit many
schools throughout her tenure encouraging Virginia’s youth to make healthy decisions. Her presentation encompasses leadership, bullying, and
the importance of saying “no” to alcohol, tobacco, and substance abuse. In addition, Chinah serves as Virginia’s state ambassador for the
Children's Miracle Network throughout her year of service.



Based in Roanoke, the first Miss Virginia Pageant was held in 1953 and returns annually to Roanoke each June. Two Miss Virginias, Kylene
Barker and Nicole Johnson, went on to win the title of Miss America in 1979 and 1999, respectively. As the world's largest provider of
scholarship assistance for young women and one of the nation's leading achievement programs, the Miss America Organization last year made
available more than $45 million in scholarship assistance at the local, state, and national levels. The Miss America Organization provides young
women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of nationwide
programs.

The Ms. Wheelchair VA Board of Directors is proud to announce that Niki Swann of Heathsville was crowned Ms. Wheelchair VA on Saturday,
March 27th at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia. The programs theme “Celebrate Life” showcased the
accomplishments of seven remarkable women who have overcome challenges and obstacles to achieve and accomplish great success.

Niki is from Heathsville. She is 23 and has been using a wheelchair since the age of 16 when she suffered a spinal cord injury due to a motor
vehicle accident. Her interests include 19th century British literature, disability studies and antiques. She is earning her Masters in English
Literature at VCU and teaches composition at Rappahannock Community College.

Niki's platform for advocacy is "Breaking Down Stereotypes to Build Opportunities". "Her Motto of Inspiration is Accept No Boundaries".

First runner up in this year’s program was India Sims from Crozet; Stephanie Coleman from Green Bay was second runner up. The
Scholarship Award was presented to Lindsay Spatz from Charlottesville. An award for Ms. Congeniality was voted on by fellow contestants and
was awarded to Niki Swann from Heathsville.
